10th European Conference on Tobacco or Health (ECTOH) took place in Milan
The 10th European Conference on Tobacco or Health (ECTOH) took place in Milan from 20 to 22 May, bringing together public health professionals, researchers, policymakers, and civil society actors from across Europe and beyond to advance tobacco control and nicotine prevention efforts.
As Europe’s leading forum dedicated to tobacco and nicotine-related public health challenges, ECTOH provided a platform to share the latest scientific evidence, policy developments, and best practices to reduce tobacco use and protect future generations. The conference programme addressed key themes including tobacco endgame strategies, industry interference, emerging nicotine products, health inequalities, prevention and cessation, and the implementation of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) in the European context.
The 10th edition of ECTOH came at a critical moment, as many countries intensified efforts to achieve a tobacco-free generation and responded to the evolving tactics of the tobacco and nicotine industry. Discussions in Milan highlighted the importance of strong, forward-looking policies, cross-sector collaboration, and sustained investment in prevention and health promotion.
By convening a broad community of experts and decision-makers, ECTOH 2026 reinforced Europe’s shared commitment to reducing the health, social, and economic burden of tobacco use and to accelerating progress towards a smoke- and aerosol-free future.
